As the title says, there was unfortunately no clips featurering Evangeline in the brand new “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” trailer which was released yesterday. But the trailer is still pretty amazing – and a must-see for all “The Hobbit” fans! The trailer has been attached at the bottom of the post – you can also head over to the official site for the film, where you can chose between five alterative trailer endings! A couple of new stills, featurering Gollum, Gandalf and more has also been released, and can be found here.
Also, a friend of me pointed out the following parts on Wikipedia (which is not exacly a safe source, but it would explain why we’ve hardly received any news, photos, media etc. containing Evangeline. It also seems to be backed up by something Evangeline said in an interview last year):
The character will appear only briefly in the first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, which will be released in 2012. Prior to the decision to have three films instead of two, Tauriel was described as having a more substantial role in what was then the second and final film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, which had been planned for release in 2013.
So if you come out of the cinema disappointed there was hardly any Evangeline/Tauriel in the film, keep in mind that she’ll be featued more in one/both of the final films! Hopefully we’ll also be spoiled with lots of Tauriel images + Evangeline events when the promotion for “The Desolation of Smaug” and “There and back again” starts up.
